Moments that inspire dreams...

Last weekend part of my family and I gathered around our grill roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. During that very enjoyable moment, it dawned on me how long it had been since we had been able to go anywhere to vacation together as a family.

The last time we had all gone on vacation together was over ten years ago when my five children joined my then new husband and I on our honeymoon. Our lives have become so busy...We need to just unplug...

Outer Banks vacation rentals have been on my mind before, but after looking in more detail at some of the homes that Carolina Designs have, it'd be possible for the whole family to spend time together. Some of us could drive, some would have to fly.

I spent some time viewing the pictures and the floor plans, imagining watching my bunch gather around the pool table, lounging by the pool or hot tub or taking a nice stroll down to the beach. Maybe we'd be able to do that clam bake dinner on the beach we talked about during our family honeymoon trip.

Today it's a nice dream, tomorrow? Perhaps...

Women wearing men's ties...

Tuesday I had the chance go to to lunch with a co-worker, we were lucky enough to be able to try out a new restaurant in town that was not officially open for business. Yes, we were taste testers. The food and the atmosphere was really nice and we had a fun discussion on what the wait staff had to wear, black shirts and mens ties. She thought that women looked silly when they had to wear ties, I remember a fashion stage when it was popular for women to wear ties so for me, it wasn't that much of an issue. Though I could see where it'd be easy for a tie to get in the way of serving food. Waiter...there's a tie in my soup...

She's not a swinger...

Last weekend my husband and I took my oldest granddaughter to the park, she's not quite two years old yet. We had previously thought about swing sets when we get finished with the renovation at the other house, because my children always enjoyed swings from the time they were very young until...well some of them still enjoy swing sets, especially if it is a porch swing. However, at least at this point my granddaughter hates swings. At least swing sets, though I'm told that she does like porch swings. That written, she may out grow the swingset fear and there is another granddaughter who in a year or so may have a different attitude towards swings...

Calorie burning conflicting answers...

A certain friend who shall remain nameless and I were joking around about how sex was a great way to burn calories. Ever the curious sort, I sought out information as to exactly how many were burned to determine if it was true that the best fat burner could actually be sex...

A problem then happened, it appears it's not agreed upon how many calories having sex burns. There are sites that state 34 calories per hour which seriously doesn't seem right though their site done in humor was entertaining. Then there are sites that claim you burn 150 calories per half an hour.

According to MSNBC using their handy dandy calorie burning calculator that's online you burn more calories cleaning house 105 than having sex, 35 per half an hour. Now that was a bummer. So, I'm going for this calculator because it says for my weight? It's 153 calories per half an hour, which is more than housework which is 105 per half an hour...
