Media Matters takes on NPR...

I got this item in via email from Justin over at Media Matters, it focuses on a recent interview by NPR’s Renee Montagne where she basically belittles the poverty issue in America believing that John Edward's focus on that issue should not be a focus and that he should make the war in Iraq the larger issue. I recommend reading the article at Media Matters.

I totally disagree with Montagne, while polls may show the war in Iraq to be a top item the reality is poverty is an issue in not only our country but other countries as well and the average every day citizen is worried much more about keeping food on his or her table than the war in Iraq right now. Given the poverty numbers of families and especially children are increasing this is something that has to be dealt with along with making health care more affordable and accessible.

When you are worried on a regular basis as to how you can continue to properly care for your family, you may of course want the war in Iraq to end but given the Democrats in Washington's inability to do anything about the war, playing the pr presidential game of who is more against the war is not going to win votes, if anything it will start turning people off as they start to realize action speaks louder than empty words...or making a huge deal about pulling out cots...
