Something silly about ebay...

I can post this here since this particular child doesn't read my blog but Erin wants one of those foot spa things for Christmas so I was doing some online price comparisons. I headed over to ebay and it never ceases to amaze me that people there charge so much more for some items when you take the shipping and handling into consideration.

The same exact Conair bubbling foot massage thingy is available at several online stores for a price ranging from $24.95 to $29.99 with shipping ranging from free to the most expensive shipping price of $8.95. Yet on Ebay? Shipping is $13.37 for one of these units which someone has bid over the $24.95 or $10.00 shipping listed for a similar one that still has two days left in bidding.

Ebay and shopping online can both save you money as long as you really pay attention to the shipping charges. Sometimes they are very inflated.

I work for a scrapbooking company and it is funny how much more people pay for our products on ebay. That is why I think we should sell the product on there ourselves

Good thing my neighbor doesn't read my blog, she's a scrapbook addict.

Lisa,

Now you've gone and pushed one of my hot buttons.

I'm fleabaY free for over two years now precisely because of shipping and handling costs.

Way too many fleabaY lamer assumes that you are either too lazy (like themselves) or have more money than brains, that they figure that you'll pay whatever they ask just to get what they have.

Indeed, many fleabaYers look upon shipping and handling charges as a way to recoup their listing, processing and final value costs from yo, under the guise of shipping and handling.

I once asked one guy why he is insisting on priority shipping and he told me that the Post Office gives him free boxes, to which I replied that the boxes weren't free, that I was paying for them.

Needless to say, I didn't bid on any of his auctions.

And where are some fleabaYer's heads. Why would I pay priority shipping for a one or two dollar item, when I'm not in a hurry to get it?

Sometimes, you can't help but wonder...
