Leonard Clark reported as arrested...

Back on July 5th I wrote about Leonard Clark who is a US Soldier in Iraq. Daily Kos is stating that he has been arrested because of what he has written on his blog.

http://dailykos.com/story/2005/7/11/192916/381

His blog has been scrubbed it only states:

Leonard Clark, National Guardsman
Stationed just outside Baghdad, Iraq - has been arrested 07/11/05

On Kevin Spidel's blog he states this is somehow related to the fact that Leonard stated upon his return from Iraq he was going to run for office. This doesn't seem to be something that would cause an arrest. As I get more details I'll post them.

Lists some further information than what I had concerning the possible charges, she states:
The Uniform Code of Military Justice leaves a soldier's free speech up to his commander, but campaigning for political office may violate Defense Department regulation 1344.10. It is not clear what campaign activities Clark has participated in.

She has alot more information listed there so rather than repeat it all here? Suggest you check out what she has there.

There is also some UPDATED info in the comment section.....

Additional UPDATE: Thanks to Kevin, I now have a media contact person and phone number for Leonard Clark. Please email me if you need to forward it someone and I'll be happy to give it to you.

It was only a matter of time until this happened. I just hate sometimes when I'm right.

In the end, he shold come up like a rose, but his name and family will be driven into the mud before this is over. Again, I am not wishing this, I have seen enough to see the pattern before it is witness before the public.

I realize he had written when he came home from Iraq he wanted to run for Senate but I didn't think just writing about what you wanted to do was enough to qualify as campaigning.

I hope he does end up okay, and I do realize he could have stopped when they warned him but still this one buggs me. We still have soldiers out there that have been implicated in deaths that haven't been arrested and they arrest him?

He will end up OK after it is all done. He will be a hero for those on the left and the Army doesn't want to convict someone of having an opinion.

I think they just needed a reason to try and teach him a lesson. I had opinions when I was in the Army, but I knew the point where I needed to stop before I went too far and hurt everything I was trying to do. If you know how to play the game you can do alot.

I am torn on Leonard though. He could be doing what he thinks is right and I would like to believe that, but he could also be trying to make a name for himself.

I'm going to post it here as an update, doesn't seem to be any confirmation he has been arrested.

So, until we have something? I'm going to now assume he is just under investigation.
