Support this Soldier....

Thanks to Jami at Hillary Now I just became aware of this story and this blogger.

His name is Leonard Clark, he is a kindergarten teacher and soldier stationed in Iraq. He has been threatened with discipline by the military for things he has written on his blog.

Letters from Leonard written to a member of WesPac (Wes Clarks site) is another source of information and appears to be verification that he is legit.

I feel for the guy, but as a soldier, he is doing the wrong thing. Like it or not, a soldier's purpose is to recieve and execute orders from his commander. I am not saying he is wrong in stating his opinion as an American citizen. I am saying that he is breaching military protocals that were put in place to help keep soldiers safe whenever possible.

He is the right person to make an opinion of his situation and what he sees, unfornately for him, he will be court martialed and then sent home with a dishonorable discharge. He might be killed in action. I do not know and do not wish death or any any other bad things happening to him. He has decided what he should do and he has to be ready for any consequences that may befall him.

I do not think he is a traitor for he's speaking out. But there are those in power that may not share his viewpoint and may do things to silence him. I pray that doesn't happen. I wish him a speedy trip home and not in a coffin.

I'd agree with you except for the military is encouraging soldiers who present the "right" point of view to blog from Iraq. They have never been disciplined or told to stop that I have heard of. So to me it's a matter of either presenting both points of view or admitting that you are only allowing one point of view or telling all of them they can't blog or participate in message boards while in Military Service in Iraq. To me the doublestandard part of it is wrong.

I realize if he reveals information that is against regs he is putting himself in a bad position.

What else really bothers me is they still haven't charged the majority of the soldiers involved in the beating death of Dilawar almost two years ago. Yet they are going to threaten this soldier with disciplinary action for a blog?

Shouldn't the priority be dealing with soldiers that actually caused great harm and death?
