She'll walk a mile for make up...

Those of you who have been following our personal saga of life without a car know that it's been a challenge, especially for my youngest daughter. While she rides the bus home from school she hates riding the bus. She loves to wander with her friends, walking from one house to another but actually walking to a destination? Such as asking her to walk down to the carry out for a bottle of diet pepsi, isn't going to happen.

Yesterday she asked me if she could walk down to the drug store because she was out of eye liner. For a girl her age, that is a crisis, I pointed out to her that it was almost a 3 mile walk there and back, and off she went for what was really her first shopping adventure without having an adult or one of her older siblings being there. I'd like to say she spent her money wisely, but she didn't, she blew everything she had on make up and some other acne treatments that I had refused to buy for her because of the price. But? Just as everything, she'll learn and at least rather than wait for something she wanted, she took responsibility for getting it.

Sigh. I so know this is just around the corner with my daughter. Thanks for sharing yours. You are a mom after my own heart.

I'm sure the adventure will help her appreciate her make up more.
