I don't care anymore...

One of the latest email missives I received taking me to task for my blogging on top of the usual slams and insults, included the statement that my not deciding to support Obama or actively help his campaign by using my blog to do so, proved I just didn't care anymore...Which of course made me think of this musical moment...

I do love Phil Collins...

Lisa Renee -
We're bad democrats and haven't gotten over it and fallen inline with the Obamamaniacs. Oh well. Must say something about the candidate and his supporters.

After the last phone call that my poor daughter answered because she thought it was her boyfriend since his number comes up private and he said he was going to call...I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that some of the Obama supporters need help.

That's not how you get people to support your candidate, it's how you totally turn them off.

Lisa,

The problem is that you have the word liberal in your blog title. That can be interperted that you will go in line with anything the Democrats give and reject all the evilness of the Republican party. I have noticed that you get slammed by the right for that same word. The slams from both sides are unfortnate and not called for.

Both sides that see your blog forget to read the Common Sense in your title. Or they just are blind to it, since the buzz word liberal is up in front. This is one of the many reasons that I don't trust either party. God forbid that people think for themselves within a group.

Both sides are brainwashing thier flocks, so much so that Hilter and Stalin would be proud. That may be a bit extreme, but so are some of these idiots of both parties. What you disagree with one of our positions? You won't follow us blindly into the fire? Then we must denouce you and cast you out as a true emeny of us. BEGONE VERMIN!!!! And never return.

And people wonder why the healthcare, legal, and political systems suck. Everyone is too busy making sure they win that they forget why they are running for office in the first place. The people are suffering and the people better find better options to lead this country or we are all screwed in the end.

Knowing you to be a thoughtful and intelligent woman, I certainly respect any decision you make whether I agree or disagree with it. It certainly doesn't mean you "don't care anymore."

But, there are a lot of idiots out there -- more who call themselves "progressive" than I ever dreamed. Unless those are really Republicans pretending ... wouldn't put it past them.

Perhaps "idiots" isn't the right word. People who haven't matured beyond a high school or middle school level, perhaps.

What? Like the entire US Congress?

C, you've known me for years, so you know how deeply I'm entrenched into the "if it's wrong it's wrong" theory and how if "everyone" is supposed to feel a certain way, I'm going to question it.

Newswriter! First welcome back and you are back just in time. We need more reasonable voices out there who can disagree without making it seem as if we are back in high school.

The ironic thing is beyond stating I was going to vote for Clinton in the primary and never hiding my reasons for not supporting Obama, I have not stated anywhere who I'm voting for in November. The automatic assumption if you dare to question is you are the enemy.

While it's clear my decision to try to make things better here locally failed, I'm much more likely to return to being an Independent than I would become a Republican. Still holding firm to what in my mind (though not in the mind of many others anymore) of what my definition of a Liberal is.

I'm delighted to be back (I think).

I've never let go of my identification as an Independent, although I probably shouldn't even go that far out loud.

I have pretty much stopped listening to whatever "supporters" of this or that candidate say, but maybe I'll get back to that as soon as I get over my disappointment and embarrassment at having assumed "progressives" would not fall into the ugliness that has characterized the other side so very much in recent years.

Although, I'm still not quite convinced that the "progressives" who have done that were not stealth provocateurs from the other side. If so, it worked perfectly. The lesser candidate won the Democratic primary, thus virtually assuring a Republican win in November. And for your Obama Forever readers, Lisa, note I'm not saying which candidate I supported in the primary or now, nor will I.

And cyberseaer -- yeah, like pretty much the entire U.S. Congress, give or take a few.

I may have been absent from writing, but I've been reading. Lisa, there's still plenty of true Liberals out there. They're just not necessarily Democrats, although the GOP mantra is that Democrat=Liberal (as if that's a bad thing).

Don't give up. Never surrender.

Thanks, Newswriter, I'm actually on your blog right now, working on a lengthy response that has made me realize how much I miss the theory type discussions as opposed to what's been happening recently.

What made me think of this song as a response was part of the lyrics are true, I will always care deeply about politics and about people, but I needed to remind myself that allowing those who are trying to stop me to seriously affect me can't happen.

I totally agree with you that we can't give up.
