59% of voters not affiliated with either major party favorable of Palin

Interesting data for those of you who follow/believe in polling out there came out earlier today on Sarah Palin by Rasmussen Reports (Curtsy to Clinton Democrats site for the link). I don't think it's surprising that more Republicans than Democrats had a favorable opinion of her, I also have not changed my position on polls not being much more than fun to discuss and only a true indication of those polled. That said, two interesting parts of the polling:

59% of voters not affiliated with either major party had a favorable view of her, which is the very base that will determine this presidential election and "fifty-one percent (51%) of Americans believe that most reporters are trying to hurt Palin’s campaign, a fact that may enhance her own ratings" and 24% say those stories make them more likely to vote for McCain/Palin.

Which is exactly what some of us tried to point out was possible if the blogs and the MSM was seen as being overly in attack mode.
