Move-On & Family Research Council both use babies...

Well, politics has come down to battling babies being used in attack ads. First we have "Alex" who was used as part of a recent MoveOn.org commercial targeting McCain:

Now we have "Samuel" who was used as part of a recent Family Research Council commercial targeting Obama:

My view? Don't use kids in your political gamesmanship, especially ones not old enough to know or express their own opinion...Then I realize that my feeling on that will matter just as much as my position on campaign finance or ethics...

Politics is a world of its own. Its own rules, double standards, half-truths, misleading statements, accusations and counter accusations. Campaigns can be vicious. There that way because that is what gets attention from the masses.
Cry as we may about the techniques that are used, the cold hard fact is that the majority of folks eat it up. Just like they new tabloid magazines, tabloid type television, and controversial talk radio.
Going deeper in applying the concept to a different yet similar situation, think about all the people who enjoy watching boxing where the contestants are being beat up, hockey fans who love to see a fight erupt, football with its pile up tackles, wrestling with the pain that is inflicted, etc., etc., etc. And what about all those "America's Funniest Videos" where many of the "funny" videos are people getting hit in the groin or on the head, or falling down, or whatever.
I agree with the sentiments of your posted entry. None-the-less, I suspect many people who feel likewise also only feel that way when it's their viewpoint that is under attack -- then, they go out and do the exact same thing they bemoan!
