Tourism still an economic engine...
In looking at some of the places that people head to visit, it's clear that tourism is still an economic engine for parts of the US. Take Branson, Missouri as an example, an estimated 7.9 million people visited there and spent 1.7 billion dollars while doing so. That does not take into account the numbers of people that have bought Branson property and decided to move into the region on a permanent or semi-permanent basis. As a comparison all of Lucas County which is the County Toledo is in generated $1.08 billion in tourism dollars during the same time period.
