Romney steps out...

I don't understand how Romney staying in the race made it easier for Senator Clinton or Obama to win as was quoted as one of the reasons why Romney has decided to drop out, especially when you have those like Ann Coulter out there suggesting she'd rather vote for Hillary than McCain. However, that's what is being stated and perhaps it's felt that if enough time passes Conservatives that have almost appeared to hate McCain more than Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton will come to love him...

Another interesting quote from the Romney speech is:

“in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.”

“Barack and Hillary have made their intentions clear regarding Iraq and the war on terror. They would retreat and declare defeat,” said Romney.

“And the consequence of that would be devastating. It would mean attacks on America, launched from safe havens that make Afghanistan under the Taliban look like child’s play. About this, I have no doubt.”

I have doubts on this, but I do have no doubt that it will be a campaign tactic used quite often when it comes down to one Republican (apparently McCain) versus either Democrat.
