Amelia Island escape...

Even if you aren't one of the lucky Publisher's Clearing House winners you can still enjoy a great vacation. Especially if you consider heading off to Amelia Island, which is the southernmost Island of the Sea Islands. The Sea Islands are a chain of barrier islands that stretches along the east coast of the United States from South Carolina to Florida. Amelia Island is is 13 miles long four miles wide at its widest point. It's a very popular resort area that Condé Nast readers voted one of the top ten island destinations and right now this Lodging Special where you can with a two night reservation get your third night free creates even more of a reason to head for Amelia Island to stay at one of the hotels or bed and breakfasts that are participating in this special offer.

In addition to beautiful beaches, and a huge selection of great accommodations, Amelia Island has an interesting history, it's known as the "Isle of Eight Flags" since the Island has been under the control of 8 different nations. It also played an interesting part of history in what was called the "Amelia Island Affair" which is a story rich in lore from the 1800's, back when Amelia Island played an important part in the world of pirates and smugglers. For those history buffs, Amelia Island would be the perfect place to enjoy some fantasy moments as you enjoy walking down the same beaches that smugglers of rum and other cargo once frequented.
