The logic in pushing the resolution on Armenian genocide becomes even more questionable as something to push right now when you stop to realize how much our US troops depend on Incirlik Air Base. If this is some type of a plan to try to end the war by Congressional Democrats, as has been suggested by some, that's a really stupid move. All this will do is make it even harder on our troops, and others.
For those that seriously think this is worth it, they might want to read up on the history of Incirlik. We have been banned from it in the past and from what is being suggested by many political analysts, it's very possible it will happen again.
France is banned from being allowed to fly over Turkish airspace since 2006 when a similar resolution on the issue of Armenian genocide was passed.
Seventy percent of air cargo, 30 percent of fuel shipments and 95 percent of new mine resistant armored vehicles destined for US forces in Iraq go through Turkey.

Would you accept the government of Iran threatening the security of the Strait of Hormuz, if the US did not join the campaign of denying the Jewish holocaust? Only 5 months ago the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs passed a resolution called ‘The Comfort Women’ recognizing the atrocities that the Japanese brought upon the Chinese and Korean women during and prior to WWII. This resolution actually demanded an official apology by the Japanese government to the victims. Regardless of the Japanese ability to face the truth, this is an important step by the US Congress to stand firm for humanity. This integrity shown by the US is imbedded in the democratic nature of our country. There were worries that the relations between Japan and the US might be in “danger”, as we can see nothing has changed between the two countries. The only difference is that Japan has become more aware of that fact that the world will never forget such inhuman actions. The Armenian Genocide is a harsh truth which no one wants to talk or hear about because of their temporary interests. There is never a good time for bringing it up, like it has never been for the past many decades. In the long run, stating the truth can only set you free!
Unless the world forces Turkey to look into its own dark pages of history, the fabricated Turkish nationalism will continue to cover the Armenian Genocide and keep the fire of Pan-Turkic empire burning.
Incirlik is not in Iran, nor is there a military base that we need in Iran.
maybe we should pass a resolution for some of our own "issues."
