Scooter scoots....

I'm sure everyone has heard the news by now, but if you haven't?

President Bush commuted the sentence of former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby on Monday, sparing him from a 2½-year prison term that Bush said was excessive. The President left the fine and two years of probation stand but eliminated the jail time.

Loyalty buys a lot, now doesn't it?

Yeah, I expected it though. Many people here still are expecting him to commute Tom Noe's federal sentence...

I thought Bush was going to go farther than this, so it's only a surprise as in it's not an artificially cleaned slate -- not that Libby's reputation will be clean no matter what Bush does.

I'm a republican who can't stand GWB, I didn't vote for him in 2004 and just about everything about him repulses me but I think it's a fair thing to do and is within his power to do so. Most people could care less about this, just the partisans. My .02.

I figured it would happen and the only thing that annoys me is talking about excessive punishment. They can throw me under GitMo if they thought I may have a code in my site that someone may take to mean that America is evil, but the wealthy white guy can't do a little time. Paris Hilton's jail stay may have been excessive too, but weren't we all glad nto to see her in public for that time?

I am not surprised at all. It is disgusting and I totally agree with Stephanie's comment.

Please tell me you're not surprised by this.

This is how politics is played..., these days.

And, both of the dominant parties play it sooo well. . . :-(
