It should be a very interesting trial in which I hope it's discovered if he is innocent why he happened to keep $90,000 in his freezer. That kind of gives a whole new meaning to the word "cold cash". Just like everyone though, he is innocent until proven guilty but it does appear some of the evidence:
A 94-page indictment, handed down Monday, details 11 separate bribery schemes and 16 criminal counts, including racketeering, soliciting bribes, wire fraud, money laundering and obstruction of justice.

I'm convinced that every politician starts out with good and noble intentions but the system corrupts them. Those who resist the corruption go insane. (i.e. James Trafficant)
Jefferson had the added disadvantage of being a Louisiana politician. You have to pass a certain level of corruption to even be considered a viable candidate there
