More on protests in Iraq...

Recently there has been some discussion by some who I know who are a bit more "conservative" in nature that have expressed the opinion that certain media outlets want to help bring about the destruction of America. So, given that a recent example of how other media sources are reporting today's protests in Iraq.

First, Washington Post:
BAGHDAD, April 9 -- Draped in Iraqi flags and chanting anti-American slogans, tens of thousands of Iraqis swept into the southern city of Najaf on the call of radical Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr to mark the fourth anniversary of the ouster of President Saddam Hussein, calling for U.S. forces to withdraw from Iraq.

"No, no to the occupier. Yes, yes, to Iraq," they chanted, as demonstrators burned and ripped apart American flags. "Get out, get out occupation."

Then Fox News:
BAGHDAD — Tens of thousands draped themselves in Iraqi flags and marched through the streets of two Shiite holy cities Monday to mark the fourth anniversary of Baghdad's fall, with some demonstrators calling for U.S.-led forces to leave Iraq.

The rally was ordered by powerful Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, who a day earlier issued a statement ordering his militiamen to redouble their battle to oust American forces, and argued that Iraq's army and police should join him in defeating "your archenemy."

Demonstrators marched from Kufa to neighboring Najaf, 100 miles south of Baghdad, with two cordons of Iraqi police lining the route.

Some at the rally waved small Iraqi flags; others hoisted up a giant flag 10 yards long. Leaflets fluttered through the breeze reading: "Yes, Yes to Iraq" and "Yes, Yes to Muqtada. Occupiers should leave Iraq." (Yes, this is a shortened version of the AP news piece posted earlier).

Now for the supposed "liberal" CNN:

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Thousands of anti-U.S. protesters marched in the Shiite holy city of Najaf on Monday to mark the fourth anniversary of the fall of Baghdad.

Powerful Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr called for the demonstration, which Najaf police said included tens of thousands of protesters.

The U.S. Army estimated the crowd size at closer to 5,000 to 7,000 participants based on aerial photographs, said military spokesman Col. Steve Boylan. (Watch how rally sends message of al-Sadr's power )

"[The] peaceful gathering is part of the right to peaceful assembly and the Iraqi people to voice their views," Boylan said, calling it an example of the "changes occurring in Iraq."

See what I've suggested? The only "liberal" and "conservative" aspect in most of the reporting that happens is only in the mind of the reader...

i comment on townhall as religiouslib and of course get continual grief because many conservatives are convinced a liberal can't be a Christian.

i have never commented on a blog before.

Feel free to steal it - infact I urge you to look around and see how often this happens. Most people don't realize it.

I always try to comment back and I'm glad to be the first blog you commented on. That's how I got started then ended up blogging myself.
