Red Wine and Dark Chocolate...

Yes, I know, I am allergic to chocolate if I eat to much of it but I do really love dark chocolate and the other day I saw a sign at Krogers that was an ad for the Hershey's Special Dark Bar that it had more cancer fighting oxidents in it than red wine. So...I was curious and also wanted in my mind to justify a nice glass of red wine and a few dark chocolates...

YES! You all know what happens next...the search...and One:

A 1 1/2-ounce square of chocolate may have as many cancer-fighting antioxidants as a five-ounce glass of red wine.

Eating a small, 1.6-ounce bar of dark chocolate every day is good for you. Very good for you, finds Mary Engler, PhD, RN, of the University of California, San Francisco, and colleagues.

By now I've convinced myself but...just for kicks lets see if I can find...Three:

Suzanne Pelican, a food and nutrition specialist for the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extensive Service, said there is a lot of research going on involving foods that contain flavonoids, compounds that might help prevent cancer, reduce the signs of aging and lower a person's risk for heart disease.

Pelican said red wine and dark chocolate contain different types of flavonoids and offer some heart health benefits.

Those new special darks with the dark truffle filling? Yum.... :-)
