Suzanne Pelican, a food and nutrition specialist for the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extensive Service, said there is a lot of research going on involving foods that contain flavonoids, compounds that might help prevent cancer, reduce the signs of aging and lower a person's risk for heart disease.
Pelican said red wine and dark chocolate contain different types of flavonoids and offer some heart health benefits.
