The Kingdom of Heaven...

I bought this movie because I'm a history buff and it was created by some of the same people who made Gladiator. It's an interesting take on the war over Jerusalem and how long the violence has been happening as well as pointing out a time when Christians and Muslims did live in peace, or at least attempt to live in peace.

It's one I recommend watching...while it's not totally accurate from a historical perspective they do a better job than most with this movie.

Some years ago, former Toledo Mayor Michael J. Damas lent me his personal copy of a 1974 book to read about Israel-Arab border conflicts entitled "The day Israel died...and lived" and while it is a book of fiction, I found it to be extremely interesting.
What is also extremely interesting is that the author of the book is none other than Michael J. Damas himself. I believe the Toledo/Lucas County Library has two copies of the book.

The best moment in the flick was when Orlando Bloom's character was asked, "Do you they that calling them knights will make them fight better?" and he looked at the guy and said, "Yes." and then walked away.

A good flick. I liked it, but it was no Gladitor.

I liked that part too. There were a few other key parts that I liked such as when he refused to agree to Guy being killed then marrying Sibylla. Aubrey had a hard time understanding why he didn't agree, so it ended up not only being a good movie but we had a good discussion about why Balian refused.

I should also add that Miguel doesn't want me to tell him all of the parts of the movie that were wayyyy of historically.

Especially about Balian...

But....(lol)
