Taking patient rights seriously...

I'm currently dealing with a situation with someone close to me that while I don't want to violate their privacy, I also know that what is being done is wrong. It's very hard to not blog about it because frankly I know if the public was aware of the details the media would pick up on this but also knowing that the person involved has the right to privacy. So I'm left with the frustration of trying to deal with this while not making it public and I"m not getting very far. However, I'm not going to let this issue go because it's becoming pretty clear that what is happening to this person is not something unusual for this particular hospital and doctor.

That said, one resource that I have found helpful as far as providing confirmation as to what this person has a right to is:

www.hospitalcomplaint.com

They provided information that while did not solve the problem at least verified that what was being asked for was something that should be done and that this person's patient rights were being violated.

I hope you can find out a way to get to this person and make a meaningful difference.

Sometimes, privacy rules just suck.
