I'm horrible at self promotion but...

This past week was a good one for me. I was interviewed by Maggie Thurber who was filling in for Brian Wilson on our local talk radio station, WSPD. Then I got a phone call from Ronnie Dahl from our local ABC station, Channel 13. Not about blogging but about the book I wrote, "In Memory of: The Loved and the Forgotten of Ohio" because the I-Team is doing a story on local cemeteries. At first I thought I was just providing some help/info then after Ronnie and I had talked; I got a call asking if I'd agree to be interviewed the next day. After I said yes, the panic set in because frankly this place was not ready for company, especially a film crew. Even though I was assured only a clear corner was needed, being the person I am I managed to get my downstairs looking somewhat to my standards. I have no idea how much or if any of my interview will be included but I saw on the news a promo piece on this topic scheduled for the Monday 6 p.m. news.

Which brings me to the book, I've sold my 75th copy between both sites I have the book listed at - the store that has other items and the one I set up solely for the book. People I don't know are buying it and so far no one has returned it, so that I guess is a good thing.

:-)

I know things here have been slow posting wise but surprisingly Liberal Common Sense is still the second highest ranking site for this area. Glass City Jungle is third which is pretty darn amazing considering the site is only just a little over 6 months old. Glass City Jungle is going to surpass LCS as far as number of visitors and has already gotten more page views which is something I should be proud of considering LCS will be two in January. If you take both blogs together I have over 50,000 visitors (that's unique visitors not page refreshes) and over 85,000 page views (that would count as viewing more than one page on the site). I've become almost a regular caller and sometime guest on the Nookular Option as a part of their weekly radio/podcast which is always a lot of fun for me. I've also been meeting a lot of local candidates and have been interviewing them for Glass City Jungle. Behind the scenes I talk to a few local candidates and try to offer help/advice as far as them getting their message out. No, I'm not going to say who because that's not what I'm about, for me that is not a partisan thing. For me it's all about this area and getting out information. I want the best for Toledo and I want our area voters to have as much information as they can get. This next week will also be the 26th week in a row the Toledo Free Press has included my Blog it! Toledo column as a feature.

My youngest has become quite the political junkie and she is building her collection of photos taken of her with local elected officials and candidates. She was very excited to have Ben Konop put a picture of the two of them up on his website. She also is a fellow fan of Ben's father who she got to meet and was excited to have met and had her picture taken with our Mayor, Carty Finkbeiner. She has decided she wants to be Governor of Ohio.

Then of course the new house which has been quite the adventure and I am happy to report to those of you who know the "inside details" that the bathroom sink is finally working! That was a wooohoo moment as we have more work to do but at least the main important things are getting finished.

So that's a bit of what has been happening during the move and as always I thank all of you who visit here and participate. Neither one of my blogs would be what they are without you. The amazing opportunities I have been blessed with thanks in part to my blogging are ones I never would have expected but most of all what has been to me the best gift has been becoming friends with some of you that without blogging I would have never had. That has been priceless...

Congratulations on all of them above -- most especially the bathroom sink. We've had ours out before, and that frustration certainly dimmed the other bright bulbs in our life at the time, especially since I wash my hands with a very pronounced o/c frequency. But, ya' know, all that other success stuff is good, too!

I have to agree with you about the bathroom sink. Washing your hands in the bathtub just doesn't cut it.

Nor is brushing your teeth at the kitchen sink a fun adventure.

Congratulations on all. It's not everyday one can say that one knows (or writes) to somebody that's been on TV talking about a book they wrote!

Especially with cats. At least not any of the cats I've had. They always found that to be a very curious occupation, and I hate brushing my teeth with the tickle of cat hair in my face.

Busy, busy, busy. And acomplishment, accomplishment, accomplishment.
Kudos to you. Well deserved at that.

Do they have a podcast or video clip of the interview? I didn't get a chance to look at their site too much.

Congrats on everything! Maybe you can go wild and drink a real German hefeweisen

Nope no podcast for WSPD and I'm not sure if 13 is going to have the video up for the piece. I was a small part of it but there was a nice camera view of my book cover. It was a very well done piece on the condition of one of Toledo's city owned cemeteries though so I hope people pay attention locally. My main part was talking about how it's more than just sentiment it's history that can disappear if the destruction continues and since the City can't afford to do some of the repairs perhaps a volunteer group could be formed to help.

Lisa,
You HAVE been busy, haven't you?

Weekly newspaper columns, regular participation on the campus radio, radio interviews, and now television...

Will you even remember us in another year?

:-)

Congratulations, you've earned it all!
