The Blade endorsed....Carty?

After all the articles praising Jack Ford and bringing up anything negative they could from Carty's history...I was shocked this morning to read this editorial (linked above) endorsing Carty Finkbeiner for Toledo Mayor, I actually had to read it twice to make sure.

We suggest that in 2005, Toledoans seem to want, and probably need, a mayor more in the mold of Patton. They want a leader for difficult economic times, a man whose "ready, fire, aim" mantra occasionally gets him in trouble but who is at least out there, noisily pushing ideas and initiatives and visibly fighting the good fight. A Carty Finkbeiner, in other words.

However, they do point out that they did endorse Ray Kest against Jack Ford in 2001 and were wrong then...

It appears the health questions surrounding Jack Ford take up a large portion of this article. Is there more to this than we know or is it his refusal to release medical records (which to be honest I don't think he should have) that caused this focus? That we don't know. I am still surprised, I expected either an endorsement for Jack Ford or the decision to not endorse either.
