How the extreme left hurts the Democratic party

Why on so many fronts has the word "Liberal" become a dirty word to the point where now many are trying to use the term "Progressive"? Those who hold an extreme left viewpoint are not in the majority, yet they get the most attention from the media and it does influence how mainstream america thinks.

It's things like this...In response to posts that voice concern over Cindy Sheehan's recent actions, this is what the response to you is:

Got any dead kids?

How about any kids sent to fight Bush's bullshit wars?

I suspect the answer to both questions is NO.

Nor is this poster the only one that exhibits this blind behavior of everything those like Cindy Sheehan does is right and anyone that dares criticize? Must be a troll or worse yet a Karl Rove secret supporter.

This isn't the way to change things, and it frankly shows that free speech is not appreciated by those in this certain portion of the left. I am not bashing Cindy Sheehan, however, some of her supporters for months now have taken this whole situation to the point where it has to stop.

Be anti-war if that's where your beliefs take you, try to get President Bush impeached if you truly believe in that cause. But when you try to tell me that I have no right to speak because I haven't lost a child in Iraq? I don't think so.....

Interesting question, Lisa, and one that I have examined on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Do the far right, neo-Nazi kooks make the GOP look bad, or do they make them look more moderate by comparison?

I don't have an answer today on either set of extremists.

I do think Cindy Sheehan will look like a complete fraud if she runs for political office, like some pundits are predicting.

I don't think the Nazi's do the same to the GOP because they are not being as public as to their participation in party politics.

I do feel that people tend to dismiss both groups as "out there" because of the media but I really don't see this as hurting the GOP, especially since they also don't openly embrace these groups as part of their own. The Democratic Party needs to decide how much some of these supporters help them versus hurt them.

I see that you have been visiting the excite boeard again Lisa with the questions that you have posted on today's blog. It's one thing to say you're wrong and here's why and it is another to say I'm right you're wrong so go to hell you MF crack ho fag. This is just one example of excite's posts that I see when I check in from time to time.

Extremist are dangerous, whether left or right, and the moderates of each party must get together and say we'll ignore your assholes if you ignore our assholes so we can get something done.

The GOP always distanced themselves when members of its party screws up by saying something like, "Mr. or Mrs. or Ms. So And So is going through a difficult time now and we wish him/her the best and we will pray from him/her and thier family through this turblulant time for them." While the Democrats will stick by the party member causing the scandel and support them 100% until nobody except the Dems don't believe the bullshit. The GOP gives moral support by throws the accused out of the circle just in case things go bad to worst and the party stays intact. The Democrats fight on and get the whole party burnned.

One major reason why Gore wasn't elected is when he said that the whole Clinton sex scandel disgusted him at the Democratic National Convention. Where was he during that time? Toting the party line while saying nothing to get his boss in trouble. Let's say the bad thing was bad three years removed.

This is why the Pubs will be more unfied than the Dems. The party is more important than the person for the GOP.

As for Sheehan, she will try to run for office that is why she accepted the invite to the State of the Union (which I intentionally missed) and got arrested, to keep her name out there.

Now that I have ranted way too long and have crash and burnned and then can back to crash aome more, let's hold virtual hands and remember that we should love each othe no matter how wrong the other person is.

C, this wasn't from Excite, this was from Kos. I have no use for Excite in any way shape or form.

Kos while at times "excitish" doesn't have the extra personal drama.

I don't think the Sheehan supporters could handle her running for office. If they can't handle some mild criticism of her actions there? The real world is going to be alot worse.

Cyberseaer said...

Doesn't Excite own Kos? ;)

Some of these message boards you have to see as entertainment only like Fox News. It's flashy and fun but, in the end (I say that phrase way too much), it's as informative as a video game or reality TV.

BTW, noone has really said anythiing about Alito being sworn in. I guess that little news tid bit flew under the radar.

No Excite doesn't own Daily Kos. Daily Kos is owned by Kos himself. Who is, Markos Moulitsas ZĂșniga.

There are some really good articles there and then there are those that at times I don't agree with. But it is a very political site and it gives me a chance to see what other people are writing or thinking about.

I wrote about Alito in a round about way on WatchBlog but didn't post it over here. I got involved in a thread elsewhere on a topic that I should have just avoided.

The whole Catholic Church issue. Sometimes the fingers need to just stop.

Stop where? Stop from getting into the offerings of money or stop from geeting into the alter boy pants?

Before you throw me to the wolves as you have the collective moan, I am Catholic and I will try and make confession this weekend.

Sorry Lisa, I saw the opening in the denfensive line and I went through the hole to get the score.

i promise to slap myself as soon as I post this. Ouch! Ok, I did it before.

Stop from even trying to point out that Catholic Priests are not the only group that sexually abuses children....

As well as telling you to smack yourself again - lol

You must hate it when i just turn some of your posts into something completely different and mostly off point. That's what happens when you don't email enough. LOL

BTW, congrats on the interview and paying gig. You'll be great. If not, I'll be there to laugh and make fun of you. Hey, isn't that what friends are for?

I go now and study more

I will bash Sheehan and I initially supported her. She has turned the antiwar movement into a joke and Democrats have lined up behind her. I am sorry her son died. I do not have kids and no relatives have gone to Iraq, but many people I served with have seen the worst over there.

I wish that wanker would say that about my post on sending Sheehan to GitMo. I may not know what it is like to lose someone over there, but I know the guil of knowing that your friends are in hell and you are not with them because of timing and chance.

I've read Sheehan may run against Feinstein. My response is she cannot be serious...

I've had go rounds with this particular poster before on this type of statement. If it was just her it would be one thing, but that attitude seems to exist not just on Kos.

(I know me4 now would be the time to tell me that's what happens when I go there)

I don't know the guilt you felt but I know the guilt I've felt, and I think we both agree that if all of us only allowed people that had experienced exactly what we have? Not many people would be allowed to speak. All of us come into any discussion with a different past, we aren't always going to agree but to automatically disinclude someone from a discussion from a position of bias bugs me.

I would never tell you not to go to Kos. I would just say that the site is full of wankers and views you could find at any half ass political gathering. It is not stocked with the greatest political minds. There is more important and better discussion here on your blog than Kos could ever attain now.

Thanks me4, now I am going to go feed my kids and get ready to go to another Lucas County Young Democrats meeting where hopefully I will again be inspired that despite how bad things seem around here at times?

There are still alot of people with good ideas trying to change things and make a difference.

I'm glad they let me come listen and write about them. Since I'm def over 35 - lol

You know, Lisa - I've never seen this blog before, but it's a good one. You were a helluva lot kinder to Ms. Sheehan than I was on my own blog a couple of days ago in one of my drunken rants.

She has brought all of this criticism upon herself and she's also done her brave son a disservice - I mean hey; who even knows his name WAS Casey anymore? If she were truly grieving over his loss, the whole world would know his name was Casey by now. But the whole world does NOT know her son's name was Casey, and that is a DISGRACE.
