Why I hate movie remakes...

I am fan of Monty Python, I also like some of the older shows that used to be on the BBC like the original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...Here to me is what Marvin looks like pictured with the original Arthur...

This is what they did to Marvin in the 2005 version....

Sigh....click on the title line and you can hear thoughts I agree with.

So, does that mean you didn't like the movie. I never see the shows, but I liked the way Marvin looked in the movie and Alan Rickman's voice was great. My only negative comment about the movie was that there wasn't enough Marvin in it. In the books, except for So Long and Thanks For All The Fish, Marvin was one of the big parts. I might just reread the books and I never do that.

If you haven't seen HHGTTG yet, see it anyway. It is true British humor hidden in sci-fi. Alot of satire in it too.

I watched it, it is funny and some parts of it were better from a tech standpoint than the original. It's just...Marvin...he's so different....

:-)

This one looks like a giant doorknob....

I know what you mean. Arthur's robe in the movie was soooo Hollywood. The TV version was much more believiable. ;)

"Ford."

"Yes, Arthur?"

"I think I'm a couch."

"I know how you feel."

I loved the first hitchiker's book but I had to stop at I believe the second, where the ship was being run with bistro economics. It ceased being funny for me. I've been meaning to catch this movie but I'm hopelessly behind in movies I want to see. At the rate of 1 per month I don't see myself getting caught up either.

I like the yarn part, but I won't ruin it for Aaron...that made me crack up

That it does; no comparison...

I haven't seen the whole thing yet but I can tell you that Marvin does not look like a doorknob lol. On the pic that you have posted Lisa, it looks like he's probably three feet tall - when I saw the beginning of the movie I didn't think he would be so huge and yes I believe he's top heavy. It would be nice to see who played Marvin. That outfit had to be a pain to handle on set.

Agreed on the look of the new Marvin; he is too R2D2-esque, and looks to be designed with the Christmas toy market in mind.

Always loved the books, and bistro-economics is hilarious (sorry, Aaron). You may have needed to work in a restaurant for many years to find this funny.

I'm in the process of locating the BBC episodes. They are still out there, hard to find but there.

I'll keep you posted.
