Psst...someone needs to tell this staffer the election isn't over...

It's funny which campaign gaffes make the headlines and which ones are buried in stories. Recently there has been a pattern of it being McCain's turn to have headlined, with the suggestion being made it could be his age but in reading an article on Politico this little ditty seemed to not be deemed worthy of a headline. I think it is, emphasis mine:
“It is not going to be a political speech,” said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. “When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally.

“But he is not president of the United States,” a reporter reminded the adviser.

“He is going to talk about the issues as an individual … not as a candidate, but as an individual, as a senator,” the adviser added.

Seriously, age has nothing to do with making stupid statements...and it's clear that both presidential candidates and their staff do a fine job in making misstatements and stupid mistakes.
