They killed another sweeper...

Thankfully with this house most of it is hardwood floors rather than carpet. However having a sweeper or vacuum cleaner however you prefer to call it comes in handy to deal with furniture, stairs and the small areas that do still have carpet. We have horrible luck with sweepers, in part because no matter how heavy duty of a model I buy one or more of my children try to pick up things that shouldn't be picked up...like fur mice, lighters, shoelaces still attached to shoes, etc.

I became a fan of the bagless variety because that at least ended one drama, going to use the sweeper and discovering the bags were gone. Friends have recommended Electrolux vacuums as being sturdier then the past two I've bought that didn't even make it through a year...
