Richardson dropping out of presidential race...

After an earlier news stating it looked he was going to stay in the race, it's now being reported that Governor Bill Richardson has decided to drop out of the race:

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a Democrat, ended his campaign for the presidency today after twin fourth-place finishes that showed his impressive credentials could not compete with his rivals’ star power.

Richardson planned to announce the decision Thursday, according to two people close to the governor with knowledge of the decision. They spoke on a condition of anonymity in advance of the governor’s announcement.

The Richardson campaign would not comment on the governor’s decision, reached after a meeting with his top advisers today in New Mexico.

Although I disagreed with his politics, I found him to be a likable enough candidate.

Nobody could touch his resume, but he wasn't ready for prime time.

I was hoping he would get out before Nevada where he would play spoiler.

With him gone, the only door open to Edwards surviving just got a bit wider. Unfortunately the culinary union Edwards even picketed with last year endorsing Obama probably sealed Edwards' fate.

But he'll make a great attorney general, and Richardson will get the combination to Cheney's man-sized safe and make an excellent VP.

As for who Edwards and Richardson end up working for, your guess is as good as mine.
