Cat 6 versus Cat 5

When I was working as tech support for a cable internet provider, the standard everyone was using was Cat 5 (the thicker phone line looking cord from the back of your modem/router to your computer). However now people are turning to Cat6 because the augmented Cat 6 works up to 550 MHz and Cat 5 works up to 100 MHz. The normal computer user might not notice the difference, but those who do a great deal of internet usage with higher speed connections would.
