Time for a new camera..

Next on my list of things to research for purchase is digital cameras, I need pictures frequently for my local political blog and ours for some reason will not take a decent indoor picture anymore. While my computer has a slot for various size media cards and does take the size of the current camera we have, my laptop only takes the smaller SD Media card and it would be helpful to be able to instantly upload pictures from events I am live blogging...
