Padilla verdict expected to be announced...

It's being reported that the Padilla verdict is going to be announced today at 2:00 p.m.

Jose Padilla, Adham Amin Hassoun and Kifah Wael Jayyousi face possible sentences of life in prison if convicted of all three charges in the case, the jury only deliberated a day and a half after a three month long trial, so I'm not sure what type of message that transmits.

However, we will find out in about 20 minutes...

They found him guilty, I'm guessing that perhaps his defense team should have actually presented a...defense? I predict an appeal...

As gruesome as this case was, as badly handled, it's going to get worse. Much, much worse very soon.

With the unilateral power to co-opt the assets of anyone who even opposes Bu$hCo's so-called "wartime" policies, Jose Padilla's family would have had their finances decimated long before Mr. Padilla ever came to trial. The net of punishment would have snared every member of his immediate family, perhaps even friends and associates.

Punishment without charges. Conviction without a trial, saving Bu$hCo the embarrassment of bungling the prosecution.
