Energy savings and outdoor kitchens

Years ago before air conditioning especially in areas where the weather was more hot and humid the concept of an outdoor kitchen or a "summer kitchen" was used as a way to keep the main house cooler and safer from a fire standpoint. With an eye on energy savings, in many areas of the country this type of a concept is making a comeback as a way to be able to use less energy in keeping the whole home cool.

I grew up in a house where we had 2 box fans to cool the house, which didn't work.

Air conditioning is a luxury, no matter how many areas it is used.

We still don't have air conditioning in our home but the fans at least do work.

This has been a strange year weather wise, and I think the winter will be extra brutal.

You could very well be right Larry, the past few winters here in NWO were not that bad, a few days of bitter cold and last year had some snow but nothing brutal so it could happen.

My grandfather used to swear by looking at the caterpillars...I should check.
