Wine in the box...I remember those days...

Until I feel a bit better I'm not really "politically motivated" at the moment but in reading this Washington Post article, Putting Bacchus in a Box I had to really smile at this part:

Boxed wines are anti-chic. They are the wino's wines, Mom's tipple from the fridge after Dad has gone to bed, or painful reminders of cheap college hangovers when our knowledge of wine was limited to "red," "white" and "pink."

I've tried a few of the wines in a box, because for me one of the advantages is I don't drink wine often and I'm the only one in the house who does, wine in a box does translate to easier storage than a bottle and is less expensive than buying some of the four small glass bottles of wine that some wine makers are offering.

My own two cents worth I agree on the Black Box and Hardy's as being good options. I was very unhappy with the Franzia I tried, to the point it was so horrid I dumped it out. I've drank better Boonesfarm than that particular Franzia was.

I've gone to those little shot bottles. The mango tequila is quite good.

However, I drink very rarely. Two drinks are enough to make me quite tipsy. Unless taken with food, a single drink makes me unwilling to drive.
