The D.C. voting rights bill has won another victory. The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee approved the legislation this morning by a vote of 9 to 1.
Virginia's Sen. John Warner (R), cast the dissenting vote, but in an encouraging sign for advocates, three Republicans voted in favor of giving the District a full voting member in the House: Susan Collins of Maine, George Voinovich of Ohio and Norm Coleman of Minnesota.
I realize from a constitutional aspect DC is not a state but when the founders created the DC area it's obvious they would have never expected for so much to have changed. Full time residents of Washington DC do deserve representation.

Do I have to live there to represent them?
