Plame Flames...

It's the shortest description of what I've read is being stated by Valerie Plame, who is speaking publicly for the first time:

"My name and identity were carelessly and recklessly abused by senior official in White House and State Department," Plame testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. "I could no longer perform the work for which I had been highly trained."

I know we are all supposed to be outraged about this but given the larger picture of what her husband, Joe Wilson, has said and the fact that at the time of the "outing" it's never really been demonstrated that she was some sort of a deep cover agent where a risk was created...This to me is one of those "Oh look what they did" never ending scenarios rather than to concentrate on the real issues facing America right now. Like all of the people who are still trying to survive hurricanes from how long ago now that are still without homes? While I don't doubt there is valid truth to the statement that this was being done for purely political reasons...It's hard to look at what either the Republican Party and the Democratic Party does most of the time as not being mainly done for purely political reasons...

She is a joke. Being ex-CIA, I can't believe she thinks this is "A Kick in the Gut". Where the hell has she been. No, I suspect she is just another of the State-Dept. Wives who report on gossip and party talk. She is of litle value to National Security and I suspect of little credibality. I wonder what her security clearance is/was?

Her opening statement laid it on the line. She was a covert operative, working on intelligence about Iraq's WMD capabilities, and she was outed by the White House and State Dept. for politics.

Hey Jim, hope you've been well.

:-)

I realize that was her statement, however, the covert aspect has been discussed to the point where talking points were created to try to demonstrate she was covert.

As well as those who state the opposite that she was not covert.

I do think it's safe to say that a) it was political and b) it does not appear anyone was harmed and that c) there are other importan issues that many of us would like to see addressed

Hi, always_psyche;

You seem to be doing much better. That's great !

Of course it was political, from the White House's side. That's what makes it so egregious; that they outed a covert agent for political gain.

I'm doing extremely well, thank you Jim.

Perhaps I've become a bit more cynical because I feel what is being done to many more Americans, especially those down South who are still suffering should be considered more egregious. I'm not trying to say that the Plame situation was not important but I think at times the media and the opposing Party spend too much time on things that in reality don't help make America better...

Lisa,

Very good call.

And so ends another episode of the ever popular melodrama/soap opera "The Political Antics of the United States of Merka," brought to you by those wacky guys/gals at the dominant Political Parties!"

Tune in next time for more and more and more of the same. . .
