Iraqi police kill in retailation...

I know we are becoming almost immune to the daily reports of death and violence in Iraq, but I found this story even more disturbing because the police involvement does not appear to be disputed as has been done in the past. According to the Washington Post:
BAGHDAD -- Shiite militants and police enraged by deadly truck bombings went on a shooting rampage against Sunnis in a northwestern Iraqi city Wednesday, killing as many as 70 men execution-style and prompting fears that sectarian violence was spreading outside the capital.

Gen. Khourshid al-Douski, the Iraqi army commander in charge of the area, said 70 were shot in the back of the head and 40 people were kidnapped. A senior hospital official in Tal Afar, who spoke on condition of anonymity out of security concerns, said 45 men were killed.

I don't know what kind of math the Washington Post is using but the headline of "dozens" is misleading given the count of those killed is between 45 and 70.

"Sectarian" says it all.

My very wise Congressperson said that Iraq could one day return to the way it was before where all the sects got along. I am not sure when that was exactly, but she has more information than I do so it must be true.

It does suck that we are immune to the violence and death. It is a sad and ignorant country that we have become
