Green Onions could be innocent....

It's now being said that Lettuce is the most likely culprit of the latest 71 confirmed cases of E. coli.

The evidence that lettuce was responsible for the illnesses was statistical -- it was the item that victims most commonly reported eating.

No Taco Bell food samples, other than white onions from a New York restaurant, have tested positive for E. coli, Acheson said. The E. coli found in the white onion did not match the strain that sickened Taco Bell customers, however.

That's nice to know that there was another form of E. coli in white onions...Perhaps rather than spend so much energy in places such as New York that are banning transfats people should pay a bit more attention to making the food that we currently eat safe.

I wish I hadn't killed all those green onions in retaliation.

Well, you could try to justify it as you killed them for all of the times it was really them and not the Lettuce...

Proper sanitation is usually better with home prepared foods, that is just a fact of life.

However, if farmers are to survive, it would behoove them to clean up their own act, while they still have customers.

Proper sanitation starts in the field with the workers and only strict enforcement will get the importance of good habits across.
