This was an interesting opportunity on Payperpost, to write about which printer I prefer even if it was not Epson inkjet printers. I have two printers right now, one is an HP 750 three in one and one is an HP Photosmart 7150. I've had the 750 for quite some time now and purchased the 7150 because it did a better job in printing out photos than my three in one did. At the time, the comparable Epsons were more expensive, mainly because HP was offering an additional rebate, yet I missed paying attention to something that has been a problem with both of the HP's. The cost of the ink cartridges... I have tried the remanufactured or "generic" cartridges for both HP printers and have been very dissatisfied with the quality of those, especially the color. Infact, I have had to return cartridges because more than once there was a problem with the "off brand" cartridges and in this household where children do last minute projects you want to be able to rely on the ability to just put in a cartridge and have it work. Right now as an example I don't even bother to use the 750 for color printing since the cost of the cartridge really makes it not worth it.
In trying to be fair and thorough in writing this post I researched several sites where cost comparisons were done, Printerdb.com was one of those sites and Epson did receive their best value award for several different models. I then visited a few sites to check ink cartridge prices and Epson was less expensive than both of my two printers. I also noted the price of the Epson printers was less than the comparable HP's. So, when one of my two printers decides their time is done, I will remember to consider the cartridge price as well as quality in my decision and I will take a look at the available Epsons.

Epsons are the better inkjet printers. HP are the best in laser printers. I have a HP printer now because it was cheaper than the Epsons in stock. But if the Epson was in stock I would have bought it hands down.
You and I have both fallen for the H-P "Gotcha..."
Inexpensive printers almost always means expensive cartridges.
My next printer will take refills and have individual color cartridges.
See, I do learn, sooner or later (usually later).
I'm real happy with my Canon i9900. In jets with print heads built into cartridge will cost more in the long run.
We got HP because it was "free" with our computer. I wanted an Epson, but I usually just use the color printer at work if I need anything special done. One advantage of working for a place that does photo albums and such is some pretty good printers.
One thing you may not be considering is the yield of the cartridges you're using. The price is one factor, I understand, but the actual pages out you get is important too. I've been happy with the HP I bought (2410 All-in-one) a few years ago, and I don't have to replace cartridges that often. A friend of mine told me that the Epsons continually clean the print heads, which basically wastes a lot of ink too.
