Martini glasses and what I use them for....

Anyone who reads this blog on a regular basis knows I'm not exactly a typical person, so when it comes to martini glasses, I admit I love some of the designs but not so much for drinking martinis. Take this design as one example. It's called "New Age Thick-Stemmed Martini Glasses", I see this as perfect style to float melon balls in gelatin. When I spotted this design, I pictured how wonderful it would be to present shrimp cocktails in a unique manner that would also keep the shrimp perfectly chilled.

Martini Glasses are not just for Martinis...but I do like mine with extra olives...preferably made with Grey Goose.

I've had a Martini once, and they put Vodka or Gin in it...maybe both. Whatever it was, it was the one and only time I got a hang-over from one drink (by the end of dinner no less). Not worth the chocolaty goodness of the chocolate martini, that's for sure.

But those glasses (thick stemmed) definitely look more appropriate for serving desert or an appetizer than for a drink glass.

I also like the Grey Goose martini although I don't drink them often. I usually go with Chivas and ginger ale.

Not that either one of us has time to make fancy dessert right now Stephanie but I agree with you. I've never tried a chocolate martini, granted I'm allergic to chocolate but it sounds interesting.

I've also never tried Chivas and Ginger ale - I do like Ginger Ale though - Canada Dry over Vernor's though. Vernor's has too many bubbles.

We had a good sweet potato soup in a funky martini glass at a Cirque du Soleil thing. I want to do that someday.
