Feeling a little better but med frustrations...

So, the pain level is a little better today but I'm not going to push myself by going back into major blog mode. Technically I should wait to make an appointment to see my family doctor until I'm towards the end of the antibiotic, or that's what my doctor's office staff said except for one tiny little problem. The ER physician only wrote the prescription for pain pills for enough days to get thru till tomorrow so if the pain continues past then it will be a problem. Should be a simple matter of just phoning over more pain medication however, my doctor doesn't phone in pain medication. While I can understand that practice if you are calling in without having been treated, when you have been treated and they do have the reports/information from the ER this creates a situation where an additional unnecessary doctor's visit has to take place or you are supposed to hope I guess that the pain stops before then.

That doesn't seem logical to me, just like it doesn't seem logical to have to go in to find out what additional bloodwork has to be done due to the whole cyst thing, to me the logical way to deal with that is to just phone that over too. While I really like my family doctor once I actually get in to see him, I think there are unnecessary appointments and extra steps put into the process that aren't necessary. Yes, I'll be sure to say something to him tomorrow...

Pain is always an indication of a medical/physical health problem.
The earlier the detection and diagnosis, the sooner the treatment may begin and increased possibility of sooner and fuller recovery.
The medical profession having been held captive to the all mighty dollar and insurance industry seems to have forgotten that little ditty.
Lisa, please make sure to get the medical care and treatment needed in the most expeditious manner.
My thoughts are with you.

Thanks Roland, and I agree the sooner a problem is diagnosed and treatment is begun the quicker the pain will end.

I know I have a ways to go on some of this and I do want to get what needs to be done as far as additional testing scheduled so that whatever ends up needing to be done as far as additional treatment is done sooner rather than later. I know that it's very probable the pain is related to the infection, however unless a miracle happens today as far as the infection goes I don't see the possibility of being pain free tomorrow as one that will happen.

The nature of the medical field. If you doc calls in the script then he won't get more money if you see him. The extra blood work and the visit gets charge to you (or your insurance, the bulk of it) and then he gets his cut to spend on his car, boat, plane, or extra golf game. All for about ten minutes of him seeing you. The medical field is still necassary, but a lot less noble in these times. Same as the legal profession, but that is a discussion for another day.
