As I read the two page article on the House deciding maybe minimum wage should be raised after all in today's Washington Post
I came to the last paragraph of the article:
Lawmakers fear being pounded with 30-second campaign ads over the August recess that would tie Congress' upcoming $3,300 pay increase with Republicans' refusal to raise the minimum wage.
Obviously Harry didn't pull off what he said...
I also know at least the Senate had voted to not accept the raise but really I do feel that Congress should have us decide if they should get a raise or not. After all they do work for us...
:-)
Someone is using puppies as a ploy. But not for kiddies... He's venting...

I think us voting on their raises sounds like a good idea. We could use the same cost of living numbers they do and look at the average American salary to see if they deserve more. I bet they would start seeing economics different then.
I'd bet you were probably right about that. It's something that always bothered me since most of us don't get to set our own raises.
:-)
I wish it worked that way. I would get together with my coworkers and determine that we needed 73% raises
Lisa,
"After all they do work for us..."
That is a very popular misconception.
Actually, they work for Themselves first, and for the many special interest groups next.
"We the Sheeple" come in a very distant third (allegedly).
It's really hard to tell about third place though, because it gets so little attention, except when it comes to imposing taxes and overbearing laws; then, we're first, every time. . .
You see, I have been paying attention.
