Tom Noe indicted on 53 felony counts

On a story I started writing about back on May of last year , the Toledo Blade has the breaking news the indictment from the Lucas County Grand Jury has been unsealed.

Tom Noe was charged today by a Lucas County grand jury with 53 felony counts relating to his dealings with $50 million coin funds he managed for the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensations.
An indictment unsealed this morning at the Lucas County Courthouse included six counts of money laundering, four counts of grand theft, three counts of aggravated theft, and one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

The Lucas County grand jury also returned a seven-count indictment against Mr. Noe's business partner, Timothy Lapointe.

What will that get him if convicted? A fine and community service?

If all 53 counts held? He'd be in jail for quite some time, especially since all of the counts are felonies.

How many of the counts he'll end up being convicted of or making some type of plea agreement on remains to be seen.

what's really going to cause an even larger stir is when all of the "conduits" who took money from him then donated are confirmed.

Will any conduits be indicted?

That's the burning question...

or...how many will agree to testify in return for not being charged.....

Wow! Lucas country citizens don't mess around when it comes to indictments.

It would be nice to see the same is true for convictions.

Does Ohio have a minnimum requirement for felonies? If not, the judge can sentence whatever he/she feels is appropriate and a fine and community service is still a possibility upon conviction.

The word on the street is something like a maximum of over 150 years but realistically only two of the felony counts demand jail time. Some of them also carry hefty fines (though to me hefty fines means you are basically paying to avoid jail because you are weathly enough to do so).

I don't think all 53 counts will end up holding but I guess by charging him with as many as they could that makes the number he would be convicted of greater.
