This looks pretty neat, and I know a few bloggers who have signed up to do this. So I didn't select any as who referred me so I didn't have to pick one of you...
However? I'll keep the rest of you posted and if you want to join me in seeing if you can be approved too? The link has information on how to become a reviewer.
:-)
Update: As you can see if you check out the sidebar? I have been approved and am looking forward to my first book arriving so I can review it. So fellow bloggers who are lovers of books...join me! That way we can add discussing book reviews to our topics.

Alas, I don't qualify, me with my baby blog. I can't even listen to the VeggieTales podcast in an a coherent non-annoying fashion.
:-(
You'll be there in no time Stephanie, I predict that within a month or so you'll be breaking the 1000 visitor a month thing with no problem.
:-)
lol
Perhaps you're right. First I'd have to figure out how to differentiate between the counter, which says I'm not doing so bad, and the lack of comments. According to actual comments, your my only regular (which I thank you very much for being), but my counter keeps going up.
I don't know.
That's not surprising. For every comment you have about 20 lurkers.
Infact before I added my counter I thought the only person visiting me was Cyber...then I was like OMG there are actually people reading this.
I've come to the conclusion that alot of them just don't comment for some reason. I've tried numerous ways to entice them....
:-)
Yeah, I don't know. The real surprise was when R_V, who rarely comments, then wrote a piece on his blog that was about my post. That was...WOW! But then, all the people I blog with over then hash it out OVER THERE!
:-(
That happens too, like when I write my interview items over at Glass City. Very few comment but they link it all over and talk about it everywhere else.
:-)
Maybe if I just figured out how to do that effectively...
*sinister grin*
I'm surprised you don't write on Watch Blog, that would increase your web presence and you are definitely good enough to write there.
It's the whole baby blog thing. When I first applied it was before I had a blog...or VOID...and now, I just can't imagine having that much time. I barely even go there any more, because when I do I tend to get sucked in at the exclusion of everything else fun and exciting.
Besides, they get nasty sometimes.
Sometimes, but when you are the author of the thread you have a little more control over where it heads. I've been lucky with mine though I am behind in writing there for this month.
I understand the time factor, now that I have the newspaper column down as far as preparation time things should be easier...once Aubrey gets better and I get some sleep;
:-)
Sides, it's thanks to Watch Blog that we got to "meet"
:-)
Sleep, now that's a novel concept...I've actually been doing that lately. Now, it's my husband's turn.
The other thing is that if I signed on with Watchblog I'd have to commit to regular posting (well researched at that!) and since I'm seriously considering going back to college, I don't want that hanging over my head too.
(I've been considering going back to college since I stopped going to college when I got married nearly eight years ago...now, I've actually contacted a school and have a degree in mind.)
Yes! That's a big, HUGE plus!
:-) :-) :-)
And I'm thankful for it!
Only two posts a month, that's the minimum. With the exception of this month that's never been a problem for me.
Miguel can sleep thru anything, granted he has a split sleep schedule Monday thru Thursday because of work so he sleeps more on the weekends.
Me too, not to get all mushy but meeting you has been one of the best benefits from Watch Blog.
:-)
And NOOOO all of you lurkers that don't comment...Stephanie and I are both hertosexual and both are happily married!
:-)
LMAO!!!
Wow, you know that would NEVER have occured to me!
Well, I am badder than you are.
:-)
After I try the college thing, and see how I do with my course load, I may try again with Watchblog (and if it's still David giving the thumbs up I don't think I'd have too much trouble, though anything VOIDish has to go through Cameron).
Let me know when you post there again. I'll be sure to join in. And I'll try to do so before I'm 60 - 100 comments in, when it just gets too discouraging to step into the conversations.
I almost did earlier, when I was trying to focus...then I quit. Hopefully tomorrow but I will let you know.
:-)
More liberal, certainly.
It usually takes Angel to bring that out for me. Note on Angel: she admitted a few weeks ago when she was in town that part of the reason she's my friend was because it's soooo easy to make my face turn red (a dramatic effect, due to my Native American heritage).
Believe it or not, Angel is Miguel's middle name.
I don't blush but I do laugh alot, it's supposedly contagious.
:-)
*sorry baby-break*
I recommend the SD abortion thing, that'll be fun to hash all out on Watchblog...though I suppose somebody(dies?) else probably already tagged that one.
I like that (middle name), though now I'm thinking of Buffy's vampiric boy friend!
What I started with was on that topic. There are some interesting discussion issues that could encompass.
:-)
My Angel has many Hispanic friend who refuse to call her Angel, because Angel is a boy's name, so it's not very shocking to me.
Living here, Angel was a very common first name for girls yet you are right in Latino circles it is more of a guy name.
Same with my son's name. When I named him Corey, there were not that many girls named Corey.
:-)
Yes, I'm sure there are. I haven't really touched on it in my research yet. Last I heard it hadn't even passed, so it seems a bit premature to me to get worked up over, though you've probably guessed where I'll fall.
:-)
I think alot of people who are up in arms against it don't realize the background of South Dakota and abortion. However, I'm not sure making this the test case is a smart move. You know how I am when it comes to state's rights though, so it's an interesting balance of what is a personal "right" and the right of a state to determine what it's residents want.
For me Corey is the guy's name and Cori is the girl's name, but now most spellings get all mixed up.
My family has had that problem too. Shannon is both my brother & father's middle name, following a "Irish" tradition (we're probably more English than Irish, a fact my grandfather denied even in death). Here, it's a girl's name and my brother was mercilessly teased for it.
I don't know any of the backgroud with South Dakota and abortion, so I can't say whether this would be a good place to start. But, testing Roe vs. Wade was bound to happen, so... It's gonna happen whether it's SD or someplace else. (I've heard that Wisconsin might give it a go, if Doyle looses.)
My daughter Erin's boyfriend's name is also Corey, and I spell Megan without the "h" and Emily? Poor Em, the name wasn't that popular or so I thought when I named her Emily. She had 6 Emily's thru out school. Then I found out that Aubrey is a guy name in the South....
:-)
I'd tell you the background but then it would ruin it - lol
However, it doesn't surprise me that SD was the first state.
I have alot of stuff on the port issue too, and I don't think I have the typical take on that from what I've read so I could always go with that if I don't feel like dealing with the abortion drama that is sure to happen.
Yeah, names can be tough. That's why we stuck with traditional names that were kind of out of favor. William, Alexander, Benjamin...hard to mess up (except Willy gets spelled Willie) and not too popular right now. It's early yet, but no confusion between classmates.
I thought I did that but it's obvious I failed.
:-)
No, don't tell me the background...don't ruin the surprise!
The port thing, oy! That's....well....yucky.
The port thing is kind of interesting if you look at how many other port operations are owned by foreign countries and how many foreign countries we have the same port type operations in.
Then there are some really interesting connections to the Bush administration and the regulations for these terminal operations are pretty precise.
But...that's almost been written about too much.
Oooo, didn't mean to rub it in. Aubrey is good though, I like that one. Not that I'm likely to have any girls.
:-(
I love my boys, but three and zero was NOT my intention.
I'm over it, they are stuck with their names - lol
I never planned to have five. But? God has a very interesting sense of humor.
:-)
I like Audrey Marie, but Mark wanted Rachel Michelle, so it was going to be a difficult fight anyway.
Middle names... Corey Ward (for my father) Emily Renee (for me) Megan Kathryn (for my aunt) Erin Marie (for my grandmother) and Aubrey Caitlin (the girls got to pick)
:-)
Well, when three out of three of your children are born with special needs... It complicates things.
I would NEVER have an abortion, but I'm not trying to get pregnant either. Besides, I don't think I have the stamina for another infant right now.
The Twins were Ryan Matthew and Ethan Todd.
:-)
I remember how hard it was when I had my stepson and Corey was a baby, so I can understand where you are coming from. Me being Catholic I was doing what I am supposed to do...be fruitful and multiply..
:-)
William (for Mark's high school friend & William the Conqueror) Frederick (family middle name, four generations), Alexander (my choice & Alexander the Great) James (Mark's best friend and our future business partner), Benjamin (my choice & a King in the Book of Mormon & Benjamin Franklin) Patrick (my brother).
Ryan and Ethan, I like that. Good "twin" names.
:-)
They were my "boy" names I had picked out for each time I ended up having girls.
:-)
...be fruitful and multiply...
LDS are supposed to do that, too!
:-)
Still, after Ben was born I got the distinct impression that this was it...at least, for awhile.
Though, medically that was wise. Even before we knew about the autism trait in our genes, my ob/gyn was strongly recommending we take permanent measures because each pregnancy I got sicker and the baby got smaller.
Hey, they still work for good twin names. And, knowing your Catholic and probably won't be offended by me saying it, I'm sure you'll very much enjoy calling them out when you get to Heaven.
:-)
To make a long story short, because I'm not sure if I told you this before but same thing with me from a health standard wise. I was told no more before the twins and after Aubrey the doctor tied my tubes without my consent.
That took me a while to deal with, but I'm fine now.
You are right, no offense at all, that to me is very comforting to know.
:-)
I wasn't open to begin with, so he couldn't very well do it without my consent. He pressed, but I made it clear that I'll take the intervention (Mirena) but nothing permanent. Mirena lasts five years and didn't make me go crazy, so it worked.
Well, since Aubrey was a c-section I really wasn't in a position to get up and say no...I said no but he didn't listen. Needless to say, he's not my doctor anymore.
Corey, Emily, and Megan were sections, then I had Erin natural, the twins natural and Aubrey was another section. Megan and Aubrey were breech. Emily was scheduled because that's how they did it, the old once a c-section always a c-section. Corey started the whole scenario by going into distress.
:-)
:-)
That's what I think about when I get worked up over my first pregnancy. Though, the name thing might be a problem...I didn't have the chance to settle on one. It was either Alexander Shannon, which would be a problem now, or Tristan Patrick, which would still be iffy, and then the girls names were either Jenna Lynn or Dara Michelle.
Tristan Patrick...I like that one
With Ben I was induced, but no c-section. He was 4lbs 10oz, though, and we're not sure what did it. Smoking, extreme morning sickness, car accident, gall bladder problems, any or all of the above.
Oh, and the stupid "doctor" trainee who told me my water could POSSIBLY have broken when I told him that it did and something was wrong...two weeks later the baby hadn't grown, had actually lost a measurable part of the amniotic sac and I had to be induced. Hmmm.
I do NOT trust those trainees (I can't remember actual term right now). A different one messed up on Willy too.
Interns?
Hate em....
:-)
So do I, but Mark HATES "Legends of the Fall" ad naseum.
I'm going to get Aubrey to take her last dose of meds and see if she will actually go to sleep. I hate having her on a decongestant, she bounces off the walls.
No matter which one we try. Wish that would work for me - lol
Sweet dreams Stephanie, when you get to sleep since you are on awake duty!
:-)
Interns might be right, but it's not quite clicking. I think it might start with an m? But, yeah, definitely hate them. Practicing in semi-crisis situations and turning them into crisis situations is NOT good.
Good night, Lisa. It's been great chatting!
:-)
