Favorite Christmas Movies

Of course my favorite of all times is "It's a wonderful Life", though no matter how many times I see it I still tear up. It's a reminder to me no matter how life may not be as I expect it, that I am here for a reason.

While Silver and Gold as sung in Rudolph is probably my favorite Christmas Song, (Most years as well as this one that is my choice for my tree too) my favorite Christmas Cartoon Movie is "A year with out Santa". I have a prized cup shaped like this guy:

Amazingly even though we have moved several times his nose has managed to survive unbroken....

Sooo what's yours?

Yes, I will say that The Year Without A Santa Clause was my favorite because of the Heatmiser and Coldmiser. They were the best. Plus Santa was nice in that one. In Rudolph, he was a cranky bigotted prick. If you don't believe me, watch it again.

The Rudolph show tells children to be normal, just like everyone else. If they dare to be different, even if they are different skills to help others, they will be scorned and laughed at. But if they save the community, or the world, from a terrible fate then they can be included in the "normal" group. That is the worst Christmas show ever. Charlie Brown's Christmas special has more hope and joy that the Rudolph show.

I am surprised that the Charlie Brown Christmas special is still on the air in this PC, secular, let's not piss off the other religions, country. Linus tells the story of Baby Jesus and I am glad to see that the show still is shown on TV and that that part isn't editted out. Maybe there is hope for the USA to live with true tolance and not to put someone down because of what they believe in.

Sorry for the overlong comment, but you know me, when I get going, I can't stop until I get at the bottom of the hill.

I miss you so go for it...

:-)

I do still like the one song from Rudolph, the rest of it bothered me. Especially the Misfit Toys on top of what you wrote.

I forgot about the Misfit toys, who represent the handicapped. Yeah that also is a sore point for me. My brother has cerebal palsy and is totally dependant on others. So, when a person says something like those people should have been aborted because of their lack of quality of life, I want to beat the shit out of that moroon.

Instead of banning Inelligent Design in school, let's ban Rudolph instead.

Don't get me started on how they yanked out the "Bumbles" teeth..poor guy....

:-)

To me the Grinch was a better "message" movie though I still like a Year without Santa best. They don't show that one on tv here anymore though. Thankfully I have it on video...

They still show it, Lisa, just not on network TV. I think it was on TBS a couple weeks ago, along with "Santa
Claus is Coming to Town." I was excited, but ended up missing it after all.

The Grinch was just on again... they actually aired it waaaaay early, like before Thanksgiving. I was mad about that, as much as I love it.

I am a bit tired of "It's a Wonderful Life". Sorry. But I don't have a better suggestion. So I guess if I can't say anything good I shouldn't say anything at all. lol, lgp

It's hard to beat It's a Wonderful Life.

No "PC" police were used in the making.

No artificial "cartoonoids" displaced real actors in the making.

No modern hijacking of traditional themes/values takes place in the movie.

No distracting color.

The B & W presentation heightens the senses, further bringing out the often missed little details.

No overt commercialization was added/injected during the film's making.

And, the story is a classic.
