Bad things come in threes?

Not in this house, lol try more like 3 times 3....

Having already wondered if this place was haunted or hated me. (Falling down the stairs then having a stair break) Other strange things have happened. For some reason the small piece of wood that is supposed to be a door into the attic storage spot kept opening on it's own. Sure, logic tells you it might be the wind but it was freaky to the girls. Especially since it kept happening. It is now securely taped with weather tape. This morning for some reason the furnance went nuts! It was 82 degrees and the thermostat was set for 68. It would not turn off. Even when I turned it off at the thermostat. I had to go to the fuse box to get it to stop. So while I am waiting for the apartment to not be a sauna zone...I discovered there are two triple A batteries in the thermostat with a warning "To prevent freezing or overheating replace when LD battery warning shows". Well, there is no "LD battery warning" symbol but I think it's time to replace the batteries.

Which brings us to the next adventure....the car. Having already experienced massive car repairs to the point we probably should have just scrapped it and started over, the heat isn't working again. Okay fine, just dress warm in the car and don't talk alot so the windows don't fog up. It also helps fuel conservation because you really think about how badly you want to go anywhere when it is cold. Last night, it decided having no heat was not enough of a challenge. Looks like the alternator went. So I'm waiting for the tow truck to stop by pick up the keys and tell me "The car is broken".

Then the myriad of other December adventures....I'm trying to tell myself that December is trying to win the "worst month of the year" contest. If that's the case? You WIN December! Honest!

"The sun will come out tomorrow..."

Why is it cars are more likely to break down when it is miserable outside?

And why will a furnace only break down on the coldest of days?

I am leaning toward the demonic possession explanation...

Demonic possession would also explain the mystery of that wood piece that kept opening.

:-)

or...turrists....hiding in my attic I bet!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to plug Hudson's Automotive here in Holland, Ohio.

Not many mechanics would go out and try to get a car to their shop to save us a tow. (Don't know if he's going to be successful but at least he's trying)

So YEAH for Amos...

(((Lisa))) I know how you feel. December hasn't been the best of months for us, either. Some of it, admittedly, is stupidity on the part of someone I gave birth to (I'm allowed to say that because he's over 18 now and it can't be considered child abuse anymore - and because he himself admits he was stupid), but other things happening definitely fall under the realm of bad luck.

I'm trying really hard not to get a "Bah Humbug" attitude, but right now it's feeling like Christmas is going to be just another day, only with better food.

But yeah, I think your apartment is haunted. ;)

All of mine read my blog from time to time, so I could share with you some similar thoughts on that issue Val...but it would be at my own peril - lol

December has always been my most challenging month and I admit part if it the past few years is made worse because my Dad died in December and Christmas was "his" holiday. It's never felt the same since though we disagreed strongly on what Christmas was supposed to be about. It's days like today when I would give anything to be able to argue with him about how he had bought way to much again and that Christmas was supposed to be about family not gifts. Now I need to find some tissues.....

Hit the starter with a hammer. It woun't do anything, but you'll feel like you tried to get it working

LBF...I wondered why your site was down but I thought it might be my net it seems to want to come and go at times. Will tell me "page cannot be displayed" then voila..it will work.

It wasn't the cheapest repair however it wasn't the most expensive one so as I like to try to remind myself. Our family mantra..."It could have been worse"

There's always buying the "devil you don't know" from one of those bad-credit lots like I had to because of my.. uh.. ability to kill cars.

And if it gets too bad, you can always come stay with me in my haunted fraternity house. We've got a frozen moat of three-inch thick ice around the house to keep out live intruders, too :)

I've found that the best way to survive this kind of year end is to pull the covers up over your head and stay in bed until next year.

Unfortunately for me, Mrs. Thunkit and my boss have a different idea on how to handle the situation.

I STILL think that it was a good idea, though...
