My short Sunday silly essay is on rain, thanks to Aaron inspiring me along with me picking the new template. He felt it was dreary, that never occured to me. I love the rain, one of the main things I miss about living in the trailer is the sound of the rain on the metal roof.
After it rains everything looks new, clean and smells fresh, even New Orleans (which trust me some street corners do not smell or look clean) is different after the rain. Looking for that rainbow after the storm is something we always do, once we saw four rainbows from the same rainstorm. By the time we ran into the house to get the camera, they were almost faded, yet the memory of that beautiful moment stays with me.
With rain comes thunder and lightening storms, I love to watch the storms roll in. Watching storms reminds me of moments with my father. He loved storms and my earliest memories is standing with him watching the winds pick up, being hit by the rain and not feeling scared because he was with me. My mother and sister would be hiding in the basement during very bad storms but my father and I? We would be outside for as long as possible or if it got bad enough to go inside standing by the door watching. Playing in puddles is still something I'll admit to doing with my children after a summer storm. Rain reminds me of my childhood when we would still play outside in the rain, we knew we wouldn't melt. Belting out "Raindrops are falling on my head" with my children when we walked in the rain became almost a family tradition when they were little.
My favorite quote on rain is listed on my template because it is true, into everyone's life some rain will fall. We need the rain, for without it? Those bright sunny moments would not seem as important.
I'm never gonna stop the rain by complaining because I'm free, nothing's worrying me....

I also love the rain.
When it is raining I don't have to make excuses to read or write; I feel compelled to be outside working when it is sunny.
I too like to watch storms. I hope that my fascination with the weather does not get me electrocuted someday, as I like to syand outside and watch those powerful thunderstorms rollin.
lol- I am about ready to tear my hair out though. The post pages look horrible. I can't find out why they are not behaving as the rest of the template.
Might have to give this one up and play with it some more before I can bring it back.
I've sent out a few SOS's.

Yeah, rain can be ok...just not that cold ass November rain that Axl wrote about...oooouuuu yeeeaaaa.
Powerful electrical storms are my personal favorite, especially when the lightning is close enough to make the hair stand up on your arms ;-)
Of course, that can lead to premature deafness...
I like thunder and lightning. I also like the smell of rain in the wountains or along the water like in the Boundary Waters. I do not like any of those when I am in a canoe in the middle of said huge lake in the Boundary Waters however
I would agree with you that would not be a time I would enjoy being in the rain either. Especially if the canoe started to fill up with too much rain water..
