On a post-Thanksgiving note...

I hope all that celebrated had an enjoyable day. Our Thanksgiving went very well. The turkey was perfectly moist and delicious, this year the girls and I opted to make our own croutons for the stuffing and it was the best stuffing we have ever made so that will be a new tradition...As well as giving us some moments of fun as we had a contest because Erin thought the toaster would work faster than the oven to toast the bread. (HA!) Aubrey learned the fine art of making homemade gravy, and the vegetarian stuffing I made separately for Erin with carrots, mushrooms and some sauteed onions was also liked by those who ate the regular in turkey stuffing. (Yeah, okay supposedly we aren't supposed to stuff our turkeys anymore but? I do and I will continue to.)

Pumpkin pie still remains yet the cheesecake and the chocolate chiffon pie went fast. Much to my chagrin, I didn't even get a chance to sample either one so I'm planning on re-making both later so I can hoard those...The French Vanilla Coolwhip was decided as a favorite over the traditional Coolwhip. (I don't buy the whipped cream in a can, it doesn't last here long enough to end up on a pie and I end up yelling at them to stop squirting it directly into their mouths and being grossed out by the impression of rabid animals that follows those who spray too much in.)

The Lions lost which was not good however thankfully the Cowboys lost, I kicked major butt in Scrabble, so all in all? A pretty good Thanksgiving was enjoyed by all present.

Lisa,
I spent a good while toasting bread and cubing it for our dressing last night.

Mrs. Thunkit did the gravy as I taught her and it turned out just right :-)

Only one dessert this year, Philadelphia cream cheese pie/cake with graham cracker crust. Mmmmm ;-)

Bird, good!
Dressing (and stuffing), great!
Gravy, superb!
Candied sweet potatoes, Mmmmmm!
Other Veggies, excellent!

Company (daughter and son-in-law), enjoyable!

Life is indeed good...

Now on my "to try" list:
French Vanilla Cool Whip.

HT, that's the same cheesecake I made that I didn't get to partake of.

:-)

I highly recommend the French Vanilla Cool Whip (it's still on sale at Krogers)

Thanks to a scarily intuitive at times Mrs. Thunkit (plus a Kroger coupon) we now have two tubs of French Vanilla Cool Whip in the freezer just waiting for a good excuse to.... ;-)

Is Sunday evening a good enough excuse???

YES! Sunday is a perfect reason to break out the french vanilla Cool Whip.

:-)

(Hopefully you still have cheescake left)

I had laryngitis on Turkey Day, which meant that the whole household had a great Thanksgiving! :-)
