On a hamster related note...

One of my favorite bloggers, me4president2008 broke the magic 10,000 visitors number last night. The hamsters joined in the celebration...Their influence and power is growing....

Must be something to those hamsters.

I had the good (or perhaps bad) fortune for neo-Nazis to drive my site traffic through the roof; I had a few days that broke 1,000 hits before and after the riot.

The down side is that the neo-Nazis came eqipped with niceties like death threats and bitterly racist comments. Not fun.

Now I am back to a comfortable 100-150 hits a day. Maybe I should add hamsters like Lisa for traffic-building.

Speaking of traffic, does anyone know of success stories in selling real ad space on blogs to local advertisers? I don't want to get rich (OK, maybe I do), but it would be nice to make a nickel from blogs. They are nice for self-promotion and for venting, but there must be a way to make real money from a blog like Lisa's (and mine) that has crossed the line into a happening place to visit.

Or am I violating some unwritten blog commandment like "Thou shalt not profit from thy blog, lest thou becomest a media whore like the rest of the money-grubbing commercial activities in the world"?

Some people have had luck with adsense, I didn't.

There are a couple of different ways to get ads on your blog but I don't know of any local ones. You could of course solicit ads to be on your blog from local businesses. Really to make any money on blogging you have to have a huge audience so that you can demand the higher fees for ads, then of course once you get to that point the questions of possible bias come into play.

Here advice from a pro though Blogads will only take you if you have been sponsored by someone now. Might be helpful for you.

Thanks for those. Lilly loved them, but hasn't had time to comment because she is trying to watch all 4 seasons of "24" from NetFlix

I am happy to see you getting more popular, Lisa. But, speaking for the Hamster Hating Hethens (HHH), the singing hamster can DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE
DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE
DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE
DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!!!!
God, how I love copy and paste.

I might have been the 10,000 dude, but my life is crazy and I can't get a quiet moment. It's months like these that I wish I still did pot. (Harding knocking at the door) Damn. DEA is here again. Gotta go.

Well C, I'm not sure what to do now, I'm no longer an adorable little rodent...I'm now a maurding marsupial...I don't want to give up the hamsters but they aren't marsupials....hoping I can find some cute tazmanian devils or something. I never thought I'd move up beyond being an adorable little rodent...
