I've been DOWNGRADED!!!

Okay, I'm not really that upset but it is a chance to bring back the HAMSTERS!! Because thanks to the stupidity of the TTLB Ecosystems attempt to "deal" with the "unfairness" of the Open Trackbacks what it did for me was eliminate links from alot of the blogs that used to have links to my posts which made me drop from a "Large Mammal". The irony is the over 35 links they removed were not from an Open Trackback situation they were from blogs I had been linked from prior to me even becoming a Life, Liberty, Property Community Member. Realistically had I not joined the LLP Community? I'd probably lose another 50 links if not more.

Current Status: Adorable Little Rodent

Why? Realistically not to offend but because I'm just a blunt kind of woman, the whole concept of the ecosystem is based on how many blogrolls you join that will link you rather than any true indication of quality of your blog. I joined because it seemed fun and it is still fun. Without the Ecoystem the Hamsters would have never become such an integral part of LCS. If my goal were not about my blog and the quality of comments, number of people that participated, etc, I would spend my time finding blogrolls to join and to list here so that both sides of my blog and every available side bar contained blogrolls I belonged to. As you can see? That's not a priority for me. The blogrolls/groups I list here are done so because I believe in what they are doing.

Sooo do your worst TTLB Ecosystem!!! Turn me back into an "Insignifant Microbe" for all I care. I will continue to do as I am right now and the Hamsters will reign....

I was nominated for Best New Blog of 2005 and even if I don't go any farther than that? That to me was more than any "Large Mammal" rating because I was nominated by someone who thought I was worthy.

I'd end this with I fart in the general direction of the Ecosystem and make a comment about elderberries but that would not be ladylike....

:-)
Just for kicks...this post is trackbacked to:

Uncooperative Blogger

Oblogatory Ancedotes

The Right Nation

UPDATE: After dropping down to one link last night, it appears all of my link numbers are again being counted and are higher for some reason (136) However, that used to be a "Large Mammal". It appears the number range has been changed and there are alot less "Large Mammals" then there was before this. Now it appears you have to have at least 201 links to become mammally. You now have to have over 139 links to be a "Maurading Marsupial" and 103 to move into the wonderus and most fantastic "Adorable Rodent".

Gee, now all of the big Mammals that were upset about the rifraff moving up should feel secure if this is where it stays. But? You are to remain calm according to this message on the TTLB Ecoystem:

Ecosystem maintenance is currently in progress. Do not be alarmed. Breathe deeply. Don't panic!

In other words? RUNNNN!!!! Extinction of many Large Mammals has ocurred! The Ice Age might be next!

Tough break, Lisa.

I have not invested as much time as I should in seeking out these cross-promotional opportunities for my blog.

I initially looked at the blog as a way to self-promote my writing, but the blog somewhere along the line took on a life of its own.

I think I mentioned this earlier, but my nom de plume is almost as well known as the "real" me. I picked up a book from the library today and someone typed the note: "Hi Historymike!' on the slip (it was an academic book through the Ohiolink system).

I am both amazed and perplexed by the mushrooming world of the blgosphere, and I am not sure of the directions it is heading, but the ride is fun!

(historymike admits that the Hamsters have a cuteness that grows on you, and apologiozes for any earlier Hamstercidal comments he may have made)

Mike, I look at this as an opportunity to express my rebellion over a system I thought was silly to begin with.

And it gave me back my adorable little rodent status, which is cherised (Not to mention some of the dreaded Hamster Haters mentioned to me that since I was a "Large Mammal" I should drop the Hamsters). I could never drop the Hamster now...especially since they have sticks...they might be little but I think it would still hurt.

This reminds me of back when I was doing the whole Personal webpage thing, as it became all about webrings and voting and stupid bs that had nothing to do with the quality of the website.

I was going to suggest to you Mike that you apply to join the Open Trackback Alliance, even with this latest bs, it to me is still an awesome chance to reach an audience you might not have access to. Granted you have to join the Ecosystem but hey...you could always end up an "Adorable Little Rodent".

Actually, TTLB is in flux right now as the database rebuilds using the new link counting algorithms. Currently I'm listed as having 3 inbound unique links. :-)

My personal opinion is that the older bloggers, Bear, InstaPundit, Outside The Beltway, etc. are being captured by their idea of a good system and failing to see the value of newer means of connecting information dots.

Oh, and as far as taking on a life of its own.

My great grandmother reads my blog for insight on current events. My son (12) reads it to try and understand politics. Several folks I work with read it, it gives them insight into how one of the "bosses" thinks. At least two California deputy attorney generals read it and have privately told me that they agree with much of my criticism of current law enforcement, invasion of individual rights, etc. I have been completely amazed at the wide range of people that I know who read my blog, and why.

Eric, I've had the same experience, I have readers from all over the world, while of course my blog is on a much smaller scale than yours is.

I'm going to keep on with what I was doing before because to me? When I discovered all one had to do was sign up for every possible blogroll that they could and have very little content? I realized it wasn't something to take seriously. From that point on? It was just cute.

So? I will have fun with it

And yes I saw mine drop to one link last night after I posted this so I have no idea what it will end up at.

Hehe, I love the hamsters! Eh, don't sweat it, it was never about the TTLB for me. That is why it is in my footer(the bottom) of the blog. I just think the cross linking and sharing of articles is what the blogosphere is all about. For us "Little Hamsters", it is a way to expand our readership, it also gives me a sense of community. TTLB has the right to do whatever they want with their system. I have no idea why all the panic over it, but that iss their worry;not mine.

Brian, I agree it's not worth taking that seriously, however, it is good for creating some major silliness.

The Hamsters also say "thank you", really this is probably an evil plot they hatched up because they were afraid I would stop giving them so much pr if I stayed a "large mammal"

lmao...

Another system of labelling. why must we label ourselves. Another reason why I haven't started up my blog. The main reason is, of course, that I am a very lazy person and my head hurts when more than three thoughts fight for my brain's attention.

The hamsters have sticks, but they seem blind to me. So they will be easy to pick off. Die you glory hound critters! (Evil laughter follows)

Oh PSHAW C, you'd be in the ecosystem too just so that you could become an adorable little rodent and perform hamster killings on a semi-regular basis, make them walk the plank and other bad things.

Which is why they have sticks...they are getting ready for you....MUHAHAHAHA!

You've been downgraded, I've just about been wiped from the system and I never joined a trackback party or did any kind of linking for rank. I went from Adorable Rodent to 2nd from the bottom. What I really don't understand is that The Squiggler which has been around a year with hundreds of posts and links is now ranked the same as a brand new blog (GEN-DATA Blog) I started last month which has only a few very targeted posts and almost no links at all. How can the two possibly by equal?

I'm afraid I'm not as sanguine about this as you ... it really upset me this morning to find out I'd gone from adorable to multicellular. Its like a whole year was wasted.

Squiggler, you did take a huge fall and it doesn't make sense because your numbers show 26 links. I understand why you would be upset. I think you'll go back up once bear gets done with this mess. You are not going to be an adorable rodent again with the way the numbers for the cateogories have changed but you should go up to at least a Flippery Fish. Congrats on your one year anniversary.

I was puzzled at first, thinking this was about something important, but then I read y'alls comments ;-)

I figure that I'll find out about how to put a blogroll on mine and leave it at that; the popularity games I'll leave to those that think that stuff matters.

As long as I can rant, I'm happy!

Q. what is a trackback?

Q. Why is it important?

I don't want to know about ratings and popularity, it wouldn't change anything that I would do...
