I read this in disbelief...is Specter that desperate for headlines?
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Sen. Arlen Specter accused the National Football League and the Philadelphia Eagles of treating Terrell Owens unfairly and said he might refer the matter to the antitrust subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which he chairs.
Specter said at a news conference Monday in Harrisburg it was "vindictive and inappropriate" for the league and the Eagles to forbid the all-pro wide receiver from playing and prevent other teams from talking to him.
"It's a restraint of trade for them to do that, and the thought crosses my mind, it might be a violation of antitrust laws," Specter said, though some other legal experts disagreed.
Just picture the demand for Congressional hearings, all about TO and how unfairly he's been treated. After all there are not any real important issues that the Senate needs to deal with right now. Sure, we have all the time in the world to concentrate on what's really important. Like Terrell Owens, why not make a national Terrell Owens Day?
Our Government once again at work...sigh....

Seems to me that they would have better things to look into. Nothing specific comes to mind, but with a couple of wars, bad disaster management, and alleged corruption rampant in DC, maybe they could think something up.
Besides, TO signed the contract to play for the Eagles and is just getting what he deserves for being a bad teammate with a power hungry agent
You'd think so, however it does demonstrate that Specter has no idea what his own anti-trust committee's responsibilities are.
:-)
Lately, Sphincter..., err, Specter has become a bit of a pain-in-the-ass, much like TO himself.
TO,
You're on the clock and you're being paid. So, suck it up ant take your punishment like a man...
Sphincter,
What in the hell are you sticking your nose in this mess for anyway?
You need another tap on the shoulder from the man upstairs to get your attention again???
Well hey faith welcome back, yes I did a bit of "redecorating" lol I'm glad you like it.
HT, not that I've ever been impressed with Specter but this time? He really "dropped the ball"
hehehe
:-)
oh and faith?
major (((HUGS))) and more later - so we'll catch up.
:-)
I agree with HT... I'll add that, like TO, Specter should be benched...
together with a few others... At least Rep. Cunningham took himself out of the game, feeling SOOOOO sorry for having taken all those goodies...
Un-freaking-believable.
This is just about the stupidest use of taxpayer funds (if it materializes) that I can recall.
I wish my job would pay me a couple million to stay home and do nothing. When I was insubordinate, I was only threatened with being fired. Not suspended with pay.
lol Paul, wow I would have actually agreed with Rush on something -
How about we give them Joe and let them keep the others? I would maybe take McCain just to see if he still believed the things he has always said he did or if he just wants to be president
Looks like the Senator from PA is getting on the TO PR train. Does this political douchebag think this is his in for the 2008 Presidental nod for his party?
Goes to show you that the elected officals in DC have too much time on their hands to speak up about this crap.
