Bring Back Bob Frantz

No I have not become a daily listener, but Bob Frantz is important to alot of people in the Toledo area. Once in a while he and I agree, and I've had alot of fun with him being the WSPD morning host. Not to mention my secret plot of getting him to actually comment here which cannot be destroyed by the likes of this Brian Wilson person. So it was pretty discouraging for quite a few people when Friday he was taken off the air to be the host of some new program which has no set time slot. Not as a dis against Fred LeFebvre, who I do like it's just not what people are used to. Especially since Denny just left and it seemed like Fred had the afternoon slot. It's also the manner in which it was done that has people upset. No advance notice, just removal of Bob from the website with nothing posted about it. It wasn't until Bob posted on his blog that people even knew that he hadn't been fired.

There is a blog I created on the sidebar to link information about the fight to return Bob and some of his listeners have created a forum:

http://rescuetoledo.proboards74.com

They are calling it Toledo Conservatives but I joined so it's not only conservatives that are welcome.

:-)

Hooda Thunkit has a great post about the Bob Frantz situation. Here....

Lisa,

Thanks for the plug!

I too, visited Toledo Conservatives and joined, because my views tend to be more conservative, but I thought that the presence of the conservative label in the name might be a put-off to other independent thinkers who are not conservative, per se.

I'm glad to see that you joined too ;-)

There may very well be valid reasons for the changes that WSPD made, but I question their methods.

It seems to me that Bob was ambushed, probably because they didn't trust him to bow out gracefully. I also question if we will ever hear him on-air at WSPD again.

Brian Wilson has a right to his own style, but I am especially wary of it right now.

This afternoon should prove to be quite "interesting..."

wow, I couldn't believe 70 posts already in Bob's thread. I opened up the NPR can of worms, so we'll see how bad that comment stinks up the forum haa haa.

Yes, good research, Lisa.

I disagreed with Bob more than I agreed with him, but he generally had a well-produced show.

Just when you would start to think he was just another GOP shill, he would fool you. Last Thursday he had a good segment on (un)intelligent design, and stuck to his guns when the fundamentalists started calling in.

My only real source of contention with Bob's show was when he spent too much time blasting people like Ford. It's one thing to disagree with someone, but he seemed to take it to a personal level at times, like when he would play that same stupid Ford clip out of context ("I have not done a very good job") a million times.

I will wait and see with Wilson and LeFebvre.

Well Mike, you know I disagreed with Bob more than I agreed with him too, to the point I stopped listening unless you were on or Dave being on. I still enjoyed his blog though and was having fun participating there at times, not to mention I heard sooo often what Bob thought from "that" person. - lol

The IP thing bothered me and I'm sure you've figured out the whole Maryland connection I was referring to.

Toledo needs a balance of views, removing Bob does create an imbalance especially since Denny is gone now as well. I'm not sure about the whole Brian Wilson thing either, but I'm not impressed at this point. Time will tell on that one.

I tried to listen to the show but after a week of Brian Wilson I re-discovered the wonders of cds.
