The SBC Dish network nightmare....

Phone...tv...dsl...all for under $75.00 a month It's easy just one call!

Well not quite. My dsl order finally was fixed after being told we couldn't get dsl I managed to get a supervisor today who informed me magically after complaining that the dsl order hadn't made it into the system the right way. Still doesn't explain the phone call stating we couldn't get it but dsl will arrive on the 20th.

The Dish nightmare started Friday when they didn't show up. No phone call, I called at 4:45 and was told we were re-scheduled for Monday.

Today they showed up but the dish that we were supposed to get to be able to get local channels is over the size the complex will let us have. Then there was no way to get the cable into the bedroom for the supposed "free" second tv. They couldn't get thru the attic and it was to far to run thru the house. The installer told me all I had to do was to call Dish and they would add New York or Chicago stations so that I could get a clear picture for network shows. When I called I was told I was put in for a "waiver" but it could take up to 45 days before I could get those channels added. I figured out how to switch back and forth from the dish to the local channels but I have to say I'm not impressed.

Nor after having no cable tv for over a year can I say it appears I missed much. I went for the cheapest smallest package for Dish which was 60 channels but most of it is junk. I found out I was given the three free months of the various HBO and Showtime channels but it was like ewwww and finding out what is on is alot more of a challenge though I'm getting the hang of how to find that out.

But...I do have discovery and the learning channel now as well as cspan so I'm looking forward to some of those shows that I did miss and keeping the girls from returning back to watching junk all day like MTV or Cartoon Network. As well as being able to watch the games on ESPN...

So far? SBC is only so so, but we'll see if the dsl actually works when they say it will.

:-)

What? You thought it would be simple. HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I had a problem with not getting dsl at my house after we moved in. Lost internet for a month, but verizon did make it up to us. We got three months of free service and six months at 20 bucks a month until I had to pay for the regular price.

I ended up getting the modem with the built in networking for free and have dsl at $14.95 for a year then either that price or a lower one if I sign up for another year when that expires.

Don't know if I'm gonna last with the dish part though....

It's getting to the point where we laugh about it. When the installers showed up today I said OMG the mythical installers! You guys really do exist!

Thankfully they had good senses of humor and appeared to be liberal even - lol
